Mental Health Atlas

Most people don't come to a site like this with a diagnosis in hand. They come with a feeling. A chest that won't loosen. A mind that won't slow down at night. A flatness where interest used to be. The Mental Health Atlas is built around that reality. It's a way into Shrinkopedia through plain experience, sorted into four kinds of things people notice: the body, the thoughts, the emotions, and the patterns of behavior.

The idea behind it is simple. You usually feel something long before you have a name for it. Anxiety announces itself as a racing heart and a sense of dread, not as the word "anxiety". Depression often shows up first as exhaustion and a loss of pleasure. Sorting symptoms by how they're experienced, rather than by clinical category, means you can start from what you actually notice instead of guessing at a label.

Here's how to use it. Pick the category that best matches what you're dealing with. Follow it to the specific symptom, where you'll find a clear explanation of what it is and why it happens. From there, each symptom connects to the conditions it's associated with and the treatments that tend to help. A symptom is a starting point for understanding, not a diagnosis. Working out what's actually going on, and what to do about it, is something to do with a clinician. The Atlas is here to help you arrive at that conversation better informed.
