Before you apply
Read the full contributor program page first. It explains eligibility per credential type, what you receive, editorial standards, the no-fly list, Anti-Kickback considerations, the corrections/withdrawal/revocation policy, and the FAQ.
If you want a specific bounded question to answer rather than proposing one, see topics we need. Thirty curated questions across nine concept clusters, each specifying the concept page and the ideal expertise.
The 10-item application
Every item is required. Applications missing items are returned with a request for the missing items rather than reviewed partially.
- Full name and current credentials, with license numbers or diplomate IDs where applicable. Example: Jane Smith, MD, ABPN 12345, California medical license A12345.
- Current institution or practice. Full name of employer, department, or independent practice.
- NPI or equivalent registry link if you have one. US physicians: NPI registry URL. Psychologists and licensed clinicians: state licensure lookup URL. Faculty: current university faculty page URL. Psychiatric pharmacists: BPS/BCPP directory URL.
- Specialty and scope of practice, in two to four sentences. What are you qualified to speak on? What are you not? Example: "Adult anxiety disorders, with subspecialty focus on panic disorder and social anxiety. Not qualified to speak on childhood autism or eating disorders."
- Written disclosures. Financial interests, industry relationships, employers, board seats, equity, speaker bureaus. If none, say so. Disclosures are published on your contributor profile.
- Concept entry and question you would like to contribute to. Include the URL of the Shrinkopedia entry and the exact question you would like to answer. Pick from topics we need or propose your own.
- Sample writing, 200 to 400 words, on a topic in your scope. Published or unpublished. Paste inline in your email, or link to a published sample. This lets the editorial team see your voice and how you handle evidence.
- Two professional references: name, title, institution, and email. References may be contacted during the credential verification step; contribution is not conditional on reference outreach.
- External profile links you want listed on your contributor profile. ORCID, university faculty page, practice website, hospital biography, LinkedIn, Wikidata, personal site. Every URL you list is verified before publication.
- Written acknowledgment that you have read and agree to (a) the editorial standards at shrinkopedia.com/contribute and (b) the network governance standard at shrinknetwork.com/network-governance. Reply with "YES" and your name in the email.
