Medical review board
Last updated: May 29, 2026
Every entry on Shrinkopedia is reviewed for clinical accuracy by a qualified medical professional before it's published. This page explains who does that review and what it covers.
Who reviews our content
Shrinkopedia's medical review is currently led by Shariq Refai, MD, MBA, a board-certified psychiatrist and the founder of The Shrink Network. Dr. Refai or a qualified clinical reviewer working under his oversight checks each entry against current evidence and clinical guidelines before publication.
What the review covers
Medical review checks that an entry is clinically accurate, reflects current evidence and guidelines, fairly represents what the research does and doesn't show, and doesn't oversimplify in a way that could mislead. A reviewer can revise or remove anything inaccurate, and signs off before an entry goes live. The review dates shown on each entry reflect this process. For more on how we evaluate sources, see how we evaluate evidence and our editorial standards.
How the board is structured
The review board is built to grow. As Shrinkopedia expands, we plan to add reviewers with relevant clinical and subject-matter expertise, each named with their credentials. Our commitment stays the same: no entry is published without review by a qualified medical professional.
What review doesn't mean
Medical review makes our content more reliable, but it doesn't turn Shrinkopedia into medical care. Everything here is general education. It isn't medical advice or a diagnosis, it doesn't address your individual situation, and it doesn't create a clinician-patient relationship. For care, please consult a licensed clinician.
